The Long Road to Division 1
Updated: April 30, 2015 - 2:10 pm

“Our sport is your sport’s punishment.” This has been the mantra of runners throughout the country for decades. It is a sport that has a small, but ever growing number of fans that follow their favorite runners with as much passion as any sports fan ever has. With young runners like Steve Prefontaine and Dave Waddle inspiring generations of young runners around the world, it comes as no surprise that colleges around the country are spending more and more on recruiting each year. As track is beginning to grow more and more in Jonesboro, I wanted to sit down and talk to someone who has experience running at the collegiate level. Jesse Duvall, an Arkansas State University junior of Dover was one of the high school runners selected to run at a collegiate level. I sat down with him to ask him some questions about this growing sport and figure out what in the world drives these people to run at such a competitive level.
