Senior guard Deven Simms was released on Saturday from the Arkansas State Men’s basketball team after failing to meet the standards of “brotherhood” set by A-state head coach Mike Balado.

“We’re establishing a culture at Arkansas State, a culture that we will use to build a successful program and Deven was unable to adhere those standards,” Balado said.

Simms averaged 16.8 points per game while shooting an eye catching 50 percent from the field for the Red Wolves. The 6-foot-4 guard also snagged an average of 5 rebounds per game.

A-State holds and overall record of 9-17 while sitting at 4-9 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Simms is set to graduate from Arkansas State in May.

The Red Wolves will being play without Simms Saturday as they host instate for Little Rock. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at first National Bank Arena.
